I am a Ph.D. Christian survivor of dissociative identity disorder (DID) who will blog about the traumas that fractured me, self discovery, and becoming whole in the light of the Son. I will also share professional knowledge and helpful resources.
Healing from DID can feel like you are the main character in a science fiction movie with no script to tell you what is coming next. As new alter egos and their trauma are discovered, you may sometimes feel possessed by personalities you don’t know. In time you learn to know them, understand them, even like them. Actually, they are parts of you. To cope with overwhelmming childhood trauma and abuse, splitting into alter egos became your only survival mechanism. The process of discoverying and healing from DID feels confusing, but it is also intriguing.
As an R.N. with a Ph.D. in Family and Human Developement, I have professional as well as personal understanding of DID. I will share about its etiiology and relate current research to my own very personal discoveries of childhood traumas in therapy.
As a Christian I am aware of the prejudice within church cultures regarding perfectionism and mental health conditions. It is through finding the true Savior’s love and following His directions to my heart that I found healing and wholeness.
With each blog I will attach one of the logos shown below that best fits the focus of the content. Click on blog or see list of posts at the bottom of this page. I hope that those who are or who know someone with DID will find understanding and comfort as I share my unique learning and experience. My plan is to blog the middle of each month.
