From Fractured to Whole
MY JOURNEY OF FAITH AND HEALING FROM DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER

I am a “not so young” lady who is new to blogging. I hope that what I share will give others hope and understanding, particularly those who have or know others who have had to deal with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), previously known as Multiple Personality Disorder. I always felt that something was not quite right in my childhood home, but I was told it was “perfect.” In young aduthood, I began to have increasingly severe and frequent migraine headaches–sometimes four or more times a week. At times they were debilitating and medical treatment for this was in its infancy. Mostly I would just push myself to do all that was expected of me to help others until I would be in so much pain I had to go to bed and learn to relax and sleep it off. After five years of marriage I found myself in therapy and discovered (actually in an answer to prayer) that I suffered from DID. I told my therapist who had experience treating DID. Eventually we discovered five distinct alter egos (or selves) and uncovered my core personality. At times It felt like I was in a science fiction movie with no script to tell me what was coming next. It has taken many years to integrate and heal from DID.

It is this story that I would like to share on my blog. I will also share things that I learned both professionally and spiritually. I am an R.N. with a Ph.D. in Family and Human Development. As a Christian, prayer and my faith in the Savior’s love and light played an important role in helping me to become whole. Presently I am also working on a manuscript of my story to publish. I hope that others who struggle, or who are just curious, will find interest in my blog. Please feel free to make comments.
